Policies
[fs-toc-h2]General
Minimum Stay
We require a minimum stay of two nights. On holiday weekends we have a three night minimum. However, there might two night spaces be available between bookings.
If there is only a 3 night space left between bookings we may require a three night stay if it is very busy.
2 Person Maximum
The cottages are designed for a maximum of 2 adult persons. To guarantee a quiet, respectful atmosphere we allow only registered guests on the property and guests only in the cottage which they have booked for themselves. Under no circumstances can other people be invited on the property e.g. for visits, parties or weddings.
All cottages provide a king size bed and we are not able to provide a cot. There is however enough room if you want to bring a travel bed.
Adult Oriented
The cottages are very close to the edge of a cliff. Because of the potentially dangerous location children cannot be allowed in the cottages.
Services
All cottages are thoroughly cleaned and all surfaces sanitized before guests arrive. As soon as the cottages are occupied they will not be entered by housekeeping staff.
Fresh towels will be put in bins outside the entrance door of the cottage and the hot tubs will be maintained from the outside.
Please bring your fire logs, bathrobes and all your food items as we do not sell anything right now.
Internet
Customers who choose to use Wi-Fi or ethernet agree to use it only for legal purposes. They are made aware that their internet activities can be retraced by Shaw Cable and that they will be held accountable for any infractions (e.g. illegal downloads from torrent sites).
Non Smoking
All cottages are non smoking. Smoking is permitted only on the sundecks.
Intruding Activities Prohibited
Activities and the use of items that might disturb other guests is prohibited. Examples for that would be the use of drones or loud music on the sundeck or stepping out of the sundeck and intruding in the space of other cottages. Such intolerable behavior would mean that the guests have to leave the property immediately.
[fs-toc-h2] Reservations
Deposit and Payment of Balance
To reserve a cottage we require a deposit of 50% of the total amount. The deposit can be paid by Interac e-Transfer only. After receiving the e-Transfer we will send you a confirmation by email. The balance of the invoice is due the evening before the check-in day and has to be paid by e-Transfer also.
As soon as we have received the deposit we will send you a confirmation per email. Should the confirmation not arrive within a couple of days please email us at info@fossilbay.com - there might be an error in the email address and this way we can be sure to get the correct address.
As soon as you receive the confirmation check all the information, especially the dates. If there are any errors, please contact us immediately.
Cancelations
If a customer cancels a reservation 21 days prior to arrival we will refund the deposit, although a service fee of $ 35.00 is applied on such cancelations. For cancelations later than 21 days prior to arrival, the deposit will be not refunded.
Should Fossil Bay Resort be forced for any reason to cancel a confirmed stay, for example because of a government order, or because of staffing problems e.g. illness related, or because repairs cannot be done in time e.g. because of labor and supply problems, we will of course refund the full amount the customer has paid and with that our obligation ends. Fortunately we have never been in such a situation, but if somebody requires a guaranteed accommodation it would be advisable in this difficult times to book with a property that can make this commitment.
[fs-toc-h2]Check-In / Check-Out
The regular check-in time is after 3.00 p.m. However, caused by the difficult labor situation, if there are several cottages to clean, one of the cottages might not be ready for check in until 4.00 p.m.
When you arrive at check-in time you will find an envelope with your name and cottage number which contains the key, the receipt, check-in instructions and the WiFi code in the key return box just to the left of the office entrance door.
Check-out time is before 11.00 a.m.
When you check out please throw the key into top opening of the key return box at the left side of the office door where you picked up your envelope at check-in.
[fs-toc-h2] Pets
Only with advanced reservation we allow small mature and house trained pets (dogs and cats, but not puppies and kittens) in one of our cottages. There is a fee of Can $ 20.00 per night and we require an agreement to reimburse all damages and we might also possibly request a damage deposit.
Owners are fully responsible for their pets and it is therefore obvious that they have to be always under the control of their owner. Never leave a pet unsupervised in the cottage or in the car.
Outside the cottages pets must be always on leash to avoid problems with other guests or animals on the property. The sundeck is closed on all sides, so that pets stay safely inside this area.
Just make sure your four legged friend does not jump over the railing! Of course, owners have the duty to clean up after their pets.
[fs-toc-h2] Hot Tub
Etiquette
The hot tub can be used only if all instructions are followed:
- Never put any weight on the cover because it is not designed to hold weight
- No cigarettes or candles on the rim
- A shower has to be taken before the use of the hottub (no body lotion)
- No additions can be put into the water (e.g. bubble baths) - there would be a considerable cleaning fee
- We check the water in the hot tubs every day and add, if necessary, the correct hot tub chemicals.
Safety
If you are pregnant or have any health issues that might make the use of the hot tub dangerous, make sure you see your family doctor and get their advice before you use the tub.
